Food Safety Level 2 Training for Care Home Kitchens

Level 2 Food Safety is the passport to a care home kitchen. It covers the basics that keep residents out of hospital: temperature, cross-contamination, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
What care home kitchens need to know
- Covers chilling, cooking, reheating and holding temperatures
- Cross-contamination — the big one in mixed-texture kitchens
- Cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and equipment
- Personal hygiene and reporting illness
- Must be refreshed — usually every 3 years, often sooner
How to do it well
Book it for everyone
Not just chefs. Kitchen assistants handle as much food as anyone.
Make it current
An expired cert is treated as no cert at inspection.
Tie it to practice
The cert means nothing if the fridge log isn’t filled in.
The bottom line
Level 2 is the floor, not the ceiling. It’s the habit of safe food handling that matters more than the certificate on the wall.
